Forward Quentin Millora-Brown was his usual dominant and efficient self Wednesday night in Fairfax, scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to lead top-seeded South County (20-3) to a 51-47 victory over Woodson.
The Stallions trailed after one period by four and struggled to score early against a Cavs defense that was keying on Millora-Brown. South County’s perimeter shooters started to open things up as the game progressed, however. The Stallions made no three-pointers in the first quarter but hit five thereafter, helping to spread the Woodson defense out a little more. Guards Seth Dunn and Xa’Vian Myles were key off the bench for coach Mike Robinson’s team, combining for 18 points.
South County advances to play Fairfax in the Patriot District Final Friday night. Matthew Urbach led Woodson (12-12) with 12 points. The Cavs, who will still appear at regionals, hit only 3-19 three-pointers on the evening.
