Senior Quentin Millora-Brown scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead South County to a 74-54 victory over Hayfield in the 6C Regional Title Game at Robinson Saturday night.
The Stallions were never seriously threatened in the game, nor really at any point in the tournament, as they breezed to the school’s first basketball regional title in its history. The 6’10” Millora-Brown was his usual dominant self down low, but received a lot of help from his teammates in this one. The Stallions hit 9-15 of three-point shots as a team, which helped to open up Millora-Brown and fellow big Jake Latta down low.
Junior guard Noah Bullock dished out eight assists, senior guard Branden Powe scored 14 and junior guard Donovan Myles 12 for South County, which led virtually the entire game. The Stallions (24-3) advance to play 6D regional runner-up Madison next weekend in the state tournament.
Hayfield (18-9) was led by junior Mike Joiner, who poured in 23 points for the Hawks. The Hawks will also compete in next week’s state tourney, opening with 6D regional champ Battlefield.
