Langley didn’t lose a ton of players from last year’s team, but the Saxons lost a ton of scoring firepower in Anya Rahman, Alice Allen, and Peyton Daley.
Fortunately the Saxons still have sophomore wing Mariah Armah, who will be counted on to score much more this season. Armah did exactly that last week, averaging over 20 points per game in three wins.
Armah has great footwork for her age/height, and is adept at attacking the rim with her length. Now she’s starting to hit threes at a more consistent rate, which is scary for opponents. Last week in a 40-38 win over previously undefeated Gainesville, Armah’s three-point shooting gave her team a much-needed boost.
She looks like a star in the making, and Langley is off to a fast start on the season in no small part to Armah and senior guard Maddie Shamloo, among others.
Congrats to Mariah and the Saxons!
