Our Boys Player of the Week for February 1st through February 7th is senior guard Elijah Gaskins of Patriot.
The first thing to know about Gaskins is that he could have won this award pretty much every week this season. That’s how good he has been this year. Last week wasn’t even probably near his best week of the 2025-2026 season.
But, not Elijah Gaskins’ best week is still better than just about everybody’s best week. Last week he averaged over 22 points per game and 5.66 assists per game in three Cedar Run District victories, as Patriot clinched yet another district crown. That Saturday, Gaskins and his teammates ran out of gas on the road at powerful Petersburg, but honestly that was like an exhibition game in the grand scheme of things.
The 6B Regional Player of the Year last season, Gaskins gets into the lane and attacks the rim with deadly efficiency. If you collapse upon him, he’ll dish to Sean Madrigal and the Patriot shooters, or a cutter. Gaskins is not a short guard, and he has shown he can shoot efficiently from beyond the arc.
The athletic senior is a steal in the Class of 2026 for whoever lands him, as so many of Sherman Rivers’ players end up being.
Congrats to Elijah and the Pioneers!
