Our Boys Player of the Week for January 22nd through January 28th in DeShawn Harris-Smith of Paul VI.
Well, he is just the top player on the top high school team in not only Northern Virginia, but perhaps the country. Harris-Smith had a fantastic week as the Panthers got huge wins against WCAC powerhouses (previously 18-2) Gonzaga and (previously 17-1) St. John’s.
His stats were eerily similar in both games: 23 points and eight rebounds. He delivered clutch baskets, played tough defense, and still set up his talented teammates (10 total assists) when necessary. Oh, and he was honored in a presentation for his 1000th career point as well this week.
Already signed with the University of Maryland, Harris-Smith still somehow seems to be getting better and better on an almost nightly basis. We aren’t sure how he’s not in the McDonald’s Game in March–but, their loss.
