West Springfield has some nice talent, especially in the backcourt. Senior combo guard Isaac Heaton is a player that can really impact a game, as he showed last week against South County.
The Spartans defeated SoCo 52-35 to hand the Stallions their first district loss, and Heaton led the way with 30 points. Heaton came up with some clutch three-pointers in key games last year, and he delivered six of them against the Stallions. Heaton also contributed three steals in that one, and he is adept at turning his underrated defense into offense for his team. Often Heaton will get a deflection or a steal, and he is solid at finishing with either hand at the rim afterwards.
The Patriot District is again ultra-competitive this year, but West Springfield is fortunate to have an experienced player like Heaton with a proven track record of delivering in key games.
Congrats to Isaac and the Spartans!
