In 2017-2018 a young freshman forward named Alyssa Andrews impressed us with her game. We selected her to our All-Northern Virginia Freshman Team, and Andrews went on to have a great high school and college career at Wake Forest.
Well, eight years later, it’s freshman Autumn Andrews’ turn. Andrews is our Player of the Week for February 8th to February 14th, 2026.
Andrews has been pouring in points all year for the Sharks. Last week in a Cardinal District Semifinal overtime loss to top-seeded Potomac, Andrews dropped 40 of her team’s 58 points. Perhaps more importantly, she and her teammates rallied later in the week to defeat higher-seeded Hylton 60-32 in the Cardinal Consolation Game. She scored 25 in that one, as her team qualified for Regionals and a game versus defending state champ Osbourn Park.
Andrews has all the tools, but right now it’s astounding how well she can score and shoot despite tremendous attention from defenses. She’s headed for stardom.
